character design sketch commissions ♥
hello there i'm skye and i'm in a place where i can handle commissions again so i thought i might try and open up a few slots and see how it goes :) i'm going back to school in the fall and i could use the extra help
i specialize in fantasy character design. here's some of my work.
1 full body original design is $60. complex props (like weapons or armor) are $15 to add on.
each commission includes 1 major revision* before color and 1 major revision specifically for color. further revisions will be extra.

most of this information is geared towards character design, since that is the kind of work i'd most like to do, but if you have a detailed reference sheet or would like me to draw a character from existing media, i am open to negotiation. i will likely not be taking full image commissions, though.
i also draw sonic characters so you're welcome to commission me in that style as well. you can see this blog for examples of my sonic art :)
*a major revision is when i show you the work and you are allowed to ask for major changes to the design. minor revisions would include fixing details and tweaking slightly and are free and i will allow as many as i can within reason
**the character in this drawing was traditionally sketched and digitally colored. i will only be offering fully digital drawings.
Terms
- i'll be using paypal for this so that i can invoice
- payment is up front
- i will give myself a deadline within 1-2 weeks of the agreement, but will set extensions as needed if necessary
- i have the right to refuse or terminate any commission for any reason
- client may cancel any time before 1st major revision and be completely refunded, but beyond that i will keep whatever payment would compensate me for my time. same goes for termination.

- drama and discourse is boring, use your blacklist and block button liberally
- DON'T CENSOR YOURSELF!! we can swear and say kill and make fun of corporations all we want, and if you tiktok-ify your tags people who have things blacklisted for whatever reason will still see them, and people who want to see that content won't be able to find it!! spell words out normally, you won't get in trouble!!
- tumblr live is sketchy as hell and full of fake accounts, if you decide to use it anyway may god have mercy on your soul o7

One interesting thing about the movie…
In both comic and movie, Nimona’s very first origin is left ambiguous. We don’t know how she came into this world.
But in the comic, it is heavily implied she was a little girl before she started shapeshifting into other animals. That doesn’t go unquestioned; Nimona’s parents insist this is a monster that took the place of their “real” child, but to Nimona, a little girl is the first thing she can ever remember being.
Not so in the movie. In the movie, Nimona clearly shapeshifts into a little girl when she meets Gloreth. It isn’t the first shape she had, it was a shape she chose.
And either way, in the end, it doesn’t matter. Who is Nimona? Is she a little girl? Has she always been a little girl? Who cares? She’s Nimona.
as someone who hasn’t read the novel, i liked her ambiguous origin. my instinct is to interpret it like she’s some kind of spirit or god related to the natural world. i mean, we know she’s been around for a very long time. she’s also impervious to harm unless she opens herself to it, and even after she sacrificing herself she’s shown to be alive by the end of the movie, at least in some capacity.
in my eyes, it speaks to the idea that gender nonconformity/transness has existed forever, and that it’s a natural thing that people have decided to fear and demonize. it’s timeless, and most importantly, it’s impossible to destroy.

one thing i find interesting is that ballister doesn’t say kid, or human (except once or twice maybe), he says girl. and that makes this whole thing read so much more trans than it already was, especially during the subway scene.

nimona is such a beautiful movie about unflinching trans joy and queer as in fuck you. and also fuck the police.
as someone who isn’t familiar with the source material i was pleasantly surprised and nearly cried at the end

i have an opposite of bullying technique every artfight where i sniff out ppl who are like 13 and i mass compliment their stuff w a drawing. everyone should do this. get your friends to do it, like a biker gang
i articulated this rather sloppily so, agreeing with people in the tags, encouraging kids with ocs from fandoms you may have grown up with that were seen as “cringey” is incredibly cathartic. giving art to beginner or struggling artists boosts their spirit during artfight as well. you or a group of your friends showing anyone who might be ignored because of their interests or their skill not being “good enough” that You Care is just a cool thing to do and will probably make your younger self happy too. if you have the time, go for it!
